Things I Meant to Say …

How many times do you walk away from a verbal exchange, and only think of the perfect thing to say afterwards? Why can’t we come up with that quick quip or deep insight right when it’s needed? The beauty of being a writer is that you never have to say ‘I wish I said’. It takes a little effort to get it just right, but your narrative or your characters get to say precisely what you mean. A writer always gets the last word.
